How to Play Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise
Quick start
Map the stakes before making a large cut. Pump isolated monsters with B, then draw a group onto the smaller side of a planned break. Stand on the safe side before pressing A at the final stake. If Dig Dug wobbles at a cliff, hold toward solid land until he recovers, and never wait in a Fygar's horizontal fire line. Following a game over, press START, choose a reached round with Up/Down on READY, and press A or B to continue.
Controls
D-pad: move Dig Dug in four directions. A: operate the drill at a stake and create a crack in the facing direction. B: fire the inflator and pump a speared enemy. SELECT: choose one or two players. START: start, pause or resume. Continue mode: on READY, use Up/Down to select up to the last reached round, then press A or B to begin.
Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise — About this game
Dig Dug II: Trouble in Paradise is the US NES edition of Namco's island-based action sequel. Dig Dug must clear each fixed-screen island by pumping Pookas and Fygars until they burst or by drilling from stakes to connect fault lines. Completing a dividing crack drops the smaller piece into the sea, destroying every enemy standing there and awarding more points for larger groups. The tactic is dangerous because Dig Dug also falls if he is caught on the sinking section, while Fygars can burn him across a horizontal lane. Seventy-two rounds steadily increase the need to lure monsters, plan the final cut and keep an escape path on stable land.
