How to Play Family Mahjong
Quick start
First, check the basic roles in a lecture or practice, and in the actual game, use A to select Tsumo, left and right to select unnecessary tiles, and A to discard. The cry is Pon on the right, Chee on the left, Kang on the bottom, Reach on the top, and B on the end. Don't assume any tactical differences just from the Rev A notation, and proceed with the phase using the same basic input as the regular version.
Controls
D-pad left and right: Select discarded tiles. A: Tsumo/discard selected tile. D-pad top: Reach. Right: Pon. Left: Chi. Bottom: Kang. B: Waro. We are not aware of any documentation indicating Rev A-specific operational changes.
Family Mahjong — About this game
``Family Mahjong'' Rev A is Namco's learning-based mahjong software that includes courses to learn about mahjong tiles and roles, score calculation practice, and actual play against the computer. The unique operation of selecting a discard tile with the left and right buttons and using Pong, Chi, Kang, and Reach assigned to the direction keys can be confirmed in the same materials as the regular version. However, as no official document has been found that lists the modifications specific to Rev A, this section does not definitively determine unconfirmed differences in rules or differences in thinking speed.
