How to Play Athletic World
Quick start
Configure a Family Fun Fitness-compatible mat on Side A, then learn the timing in Hurdle Meadow. Alternate the instructed left and right panels to run; lift both feet to jump and step down to land. Watch each later course's diagram because Tunnel, Log Bridge, and Rafting use different high, middle, or low zones. Standard NES face buttons do not reproduce the intended event input.
Controls
Family Fun Fitness mat, Side A: alternate the active left/right panels to run; leave both panels to jump and press again to land. Other events activate specified upper, middle, or lower pad positions. Use the standard controller only where the menu requests it; gameplay depends on mat input.
Athletic World — About this game
The European release of Athletic World is built for the Family Fun Fitness control mat and its Side A layout. Hurdle Meadow, Animal Trail, Tunnel, Log Bridge, and Rafting turn alternating foot presses, jumps, and changes of stance into on-screen movement. Course hazards reward rhythm more than ordinary button speed. This entry describes the European cartridge and mat branding rather than the Japanese Family Trainer connector or Nintendo's later North American Power Pad package, an important distinction when choosing an input device in an emulator.
