Begin with New or Extra mode and learn the shared controls: A/C Missiles, B Bombs and three capsule colours for upgrades. This cartridge adds Old, New and Extra rule sets based on different arcade revisions, with revised enemy patterns, difficulty and respawn behaviour, plus additional boss-focused options. Choose upper or lower routes before each fork closes, build Missiles with red capsules, Bombs with green and Arm with blue. Clear a normal branching route before attempting boss-focused modes, and protect lives and Arm rather than diving after a dangerous capsule.

The D-pad moves Silver Hawk and the menu cursor. A or C confirms menu choices and fires the Missile attack; B fires Bombs. Start opens the main menu, begins play and pauses or resumes. Missile and Bomb attacks may be held or tapped according to the Rapid setting in Options. Red capsules improve Missiles, green improves Bombs and blue strengthens the Arm barrier. At the end of a zone, position the ship on the upper or lower path before the route closes; the selected branch determines the next zone and eventual ending.
