How to Play Zero Wing
Quick start
Fly through side-scrolling enemy formations, collect weapon and speed upgrades, and use the tractor beam to capture smaller enemies. Release a captured craft as a projectile or keep it as a shield while maintaining the main shot. Choose weapon colours deliberately, avoid chasing a power-up into crossfire, and save a captured enemy or special attack for bosses and narrow passages where the screen offers little room.
Controls
D-pad: move the ship. A: fire the main weapon. B: activate the tractor beam to capture a valid enemy, then release or throw it. C: change speed or use the current secondary function according to the control option. Start: pause. Holding fire maintains pressure while captured enemies can block shots in front of the ship.
