How to Play Ghostbusters II
Quick start
At the title or demo, press Start or A. Select one or two players with Select or Left/Right, confirm, and advance to the tunnel. Keep ahead of the spider while aiming with Up/Down and firing the slime blower with A. Jump low threats with B. If a flying poltergeist object ignores the blower, press Start to place a trap behind your route; it captures passing targets until its power expires. Do not leave a second trap because only one can operate. Shoot logos when the path is safe, since twenty produce an extra life and lives do not reset between stages. After losing a scene, A or Start chooses Continue while chances remain.
Controls
On foot: Left/Right runs, Up/Down adjusts the blower, A fires slime, B jumps, Start drops a trap. Ecto-1A: Up/Down changes lane, Right speeds up, Left slows down, A fires the equipped weapon, B jumps. Statue of Liberty: Left/Right walks; with the aiming upgrade, Up aims right and Down aims left; A fires the torch and B triggers a collected book bomb. Title/menu: Start or A proceeds; Select or Left/Right changes between one and two players. This layout is for Imagineering/Activision's NES game, not HAL's New Ghostbusters II.
Ghostbusters II — About this game
Activision's Ghostbusters II for NES follows the team from the river of mood slime to the Manhattan Museum of Art in seven stages. It is a separate game from HAL Laboratory's New Ghostbusters II. The on-foot format combines side-scrolling movement, an adjustable slime blower, jumps, and a limited ghost trap; other scenes shift to the Ecto-1A, where lane changes, speed control, weapons, power-ups, and timed jumps matter. The Statue of Liberty stage becomes a marching shooter with aim upgrades and screen-clearing book bombs. Four starting lives are shared across the full run, though collecting twenty Ghostbusters II logos awards another. In two-player mode, players alternate after a completed or failed scene rather than acting together, and both attempt the same sequence on their respective turns.
