How to Play Golf
Quick start
Choose 1 PLAYER STROKE GAME with SELECT and press START. Read the wind arrow and remaining distance, use Up/Down to pick a club and Left/Right to aim. Press A once to start the backswing, again to set distance, then a third time near the white impact line for a straight shot. On the green, move the target for the turf grain and press A twice; the second press sets putt distance.
Controls
North American NES edition controls: D-pad Up/Down selects a club and Left/Right changes stance; on the green it moves the target. A is pressed three times for normal shots: start backswing, set power, set impact. Putting uses two A presses. SELECT cycles the three title modes, START begins, and B is unused. Controller I is for solo/player one and Controller II for player two.
Golf — About this game
The North American NES edition is a focused par-72 simulation built around an 18-hole championship course. It presents club and hole distances in yards with English menus. Solo play uses stroke scoring, while two players alternate in stroke or match play. Every full shot asks you to choose a club, set stance, judge wind, decide power and stop the impact marker for a straight ball, slice or hook. Twisting fairways, woods, water and bunkers punish poor planning; bunker shots travel only about half their fairway distance.
