How to Play Gradius Galaxies
Quick start
Press START, choose START, then select a power meter, Shield or Force Field and semi-automatic or manual power-up handling before choosing OK. Stage 1 begins immediately: destroy formations, collect red capsules and watch the power meter cycle. With manual handling, press A only when the upgrade you actually need is lit—an early Speed Up followed by a weapon or defensive option is safer than stacking speed. Blue capsules clear enemies and shots from the screen, so collect them when the pattern becomes crowded.
Controls
The D-Pad pilots the Vic Viper in four directions. B fires shots and missiles and cancels menu choices. A activates the highlighted power-up and selects menu choices. START pauses. L, R and SELECT are unused in the default layout, though Options can remap Shot, Missile, Power Up and Rapid. A+B+L+R+START performs a soft reset.
