How to Play Heavy Barrel
Quick start
Choose one or two players with SELECT and start with START. Use A to clear the opening route with the machine gun, saving B-button hand weapons for dangerous situations. Pick up keys and touch boxes to open them; watch the four-key limit and learn useful box locations. Defeating a stage boss is not the final action: destroy the large gate blocking the exit to continue.
Controls
D-pad: move and choose attack direction. A: fire the current gun, including machine gun or five-way rifle; also join during play. B: use the current hand weapon, such as grenades. SELECT: choose player count at the title. START: begin or pause/resume. Touch a box with a key to open it.
Heavy Barrel — About this game
The Japanese Famicom release of Heavy Barrel sends special soldiers from S Country to an island controlled by a secret organization. Their mission is to defeat it and uncover its ultimate weapon. This overhead shooter combines seven stages of enemy fire with a simple but consequential supply system: certain enemies drop keys, and only four can be carried. Touching a locked box while holding a key reveals weapons or items, so learning which boxes to open matters. The starting machine gun has unlimited shots, while the five-way rifle and flamethrower offer different attack patterns. Gathering six components completes the signature Heavy Barrel, adding a powerful goal to the advance through bosses and gates.
