How to Play Heavy Barrel
Quick start
Use SELECT on controller 1 to choose 2 PLAYER if a partner is joining, then press START. In the opening area, keep moving while shooting armed soldiers and collect the red soldiers' keys. Carrying four keys is the limit: open a nearby locker before taking another key when full. Save secondary ammunition for clustered threats and armored targets, and check the superweapon countdown before committing to a boss.
Controls
D-pad: move. A: fire the current firearm, including Heavy Barrel when assembled. B: use the equipped grenade, smoke bomb, or mace. Controller 1 SELECT: choose one or two players on the title screen. START: begin; during play, pause/resume.
Heavy Barrel — About this game
Heavy Barrel on the North American NES turns the assault on a terrorist-held missile installation into a top-down shooting campaign for one or two players. Red soldiers drop the keys needed for equipment lockers, so choosing when to open a box matters as much as clearing the next path. Machine-gun fire is unlimited, while stronger firearms and secondary weapons consume supplies. Six recovered components assemble the temporary Heavy Barrel; when its countdown ends, the previous firearm returns. The route leads through fortified areas whose sealed gates must be shot open.
