How to Play Ufouria: The Saga
Quick start
Press START and explore as Bop-Louie, avoiding water until a suitable friend joins. Practice A to jump, then hold Down while descending onto enemies. Use B to pick up a ball and B again to throw; stomping a boss produces ammunition rather than damaging it directly. Seek Freeon-Leon early, then use SELECT and the D-pad to choose a recovered character, confirming with A, and revisit blocked routes.
Controls
Left/Right: move; Down: crouch/crawl; Up: climb ropes. A: jump; A+Down: stomp. B: pick up a ball, press again to throw; after finding the relevant special weapon, hold B to charge its attack. SELECT: open/close the sub-screen; D-pad selects collected characters/items and A confirms/uses them. START: begin or pause/resume.
Ufouria: The Saga — About this game
Ufouria: The Saga follows Bop-Louie into the crater where Freeon-Leon, Shades and Gil have disappeared and lost their memories. Finding them is only part of the task: defeating them brings them into the team, opening routes that Bop cannot handle alone. Freeon-Leon can travel across water and ice, Shades reaches higher places and Gil explores beneath the surface. The adventure rewards returning to earlier passages with a new companion or item. Combat has its own rhythm: hold Down during a jump to stomp, then pick up the resulting ball and throw it. This is the European NES edition, with its localized cast and English in-game text.
