How to Play High Speed
Quick start
Press START, select the number of players and press START again. Hold A to set launch strength, then release. First learn the D-pad/A flipper timing and watch both the moving upper view and the fixed lower flippers. Complete the green, yellow and red target groups, then aim up the ramp twice. Nudge sparingly with B or SELECT so a rescue does not become a tilt.
Controls
D-pad (any direction): left flipper. A: right flippers; hold at the launcher to pull back the plunger, then release to launch. B: shake the playfield left. SELECT: shake it right. D-pad+A+B together: use a Lightning Bomb when available. START: select options or pause (hold briefly during play). Avoid repeated nudges that cause tilt.
High Speed — About this game
High Speed brings the Williams table to NES with a police-chase objective rather than a simple sequence of cleared stages. Complete the green, yellow and red target groups, then send the ball around the ramp to pursue multiball and bigger scoring opportunities. The lower flippers remain visible while the upper view follows the action, helping you judge a fast return. This European release also includes the console game's more unusual threats: rust balls can damage a flipper, while a magnetic helicopter can carry a ball away. Collected helicopter and safe icons lead to racing and pachinko bonus challenges. Keeping a ball in play therefore means reading the table and dealing with hazards, not merely pressing both flippers constantly.
