How to Play Flying Dragon: The Secret Scroll

Quick start

Press START and use SELECT to choose こども よう, then START to begin. In the first journey, defeat enemies and the stronger foes they summon; collect five power-up labels so you can open the exit. Hit dragon statues for useful items. At the temple, follow the attack-and-defense lesson: a mark on Ryuhi means guard that height, while a mark on the opponent tells you where to strike.

Controls

Journey: Left/Right move, Up jumps, Down crouches; A kicks and B punches (fires the acquired projectile). Match: Up/Left-or-Right/Down defend high/middle/low; A kicks, B punches, and direction selects height. Left/Right+A+B jumps; after blocking a high punch, Down+B throws. Up+A+B uses Hiryu-no-Ken when the K.O. gauge flashes. SELECT chooses menus or drinks stored Magic Water in a match; START confirms or pauses.

Flying Dragon: The Secret Scroll — About this game

Hiryu no Ken: Ogi no Sho combines two different rhythms. On the roads, Ryuhi fights ordinary attackers and stronger beasts, collecting power-ups before opening the exit. In the ring, the Shingan system turns combat into a contest of reading high, middle and low marks rather than attacking blindly. A mark on Ryuhi warns where to defend; one on an opponent suggests an opening. Recovering scrolls improves his abilities, while a flashing K.O. gauge allows the powerful Hiryu-no-Ken technique. This is the Japanese Famicom edition, with the menus こども よう for beginners and ぷろ よう for experienced players. The temple’s training is worth following before you try to win the world tournament.
