How to Play Kid Kool and the Quest for the Seven Wonder Herbs
Quick start
Press START to reach the title, use SELECT to choose START rather than CONTINUE, then press START again. On the first stretch, compare a standing A jump with one made after running left or right. Look for Wicky in the grass; B throws him when he is riding on your back, rather than making Kakefu dash. Before a wide gap, leave room to gather speed. When skipping over water, jump to safety before your momentum runs out.
Controls
Left/right moves Kakefu, with speed building while you keep running. A jumps. B launches Wicky when he is being carried. START begins play and pauses during a stage. SELECT changes START/CONTINUE on the title screen but is unused in ordinary play. A stops the bonus roulette.
Kid Kool and the Quest for the Seven Wonder Herbs — About this game
This Japanese Famicom release stars Kakefu-kun, the child television personality whose appearance was changed for the American Kid Kool edition. Its quest sends the young hero through seven worlds to retrieve herbs for an ill king. The main challenge is managing momentum: a slow approach produces a short leap, while a running start carries you much farther. Wicky, a small companion found in the grass, can be thrown at enemies and can take a hit for you when carried. Water-skipping sections and springy poles make the route more than a sequence of ordinary platform jumps. Watch the changing daylight and the running clock, because completion time affects the ending.
