How to Play Twin Cobra

Quick start

Once your helicopter launches, move with the Control Pad and fire with A. Collect S items to build up your shot and watch the changing color of weapon pickups before taking them. Keep room to dodge instead of chasing every item. Use B for a bomb before a dangerous pattern costs you your weapon power. START pauses the action. These are the Japanese Famicom controls, not the reversed shot/bomb layout in the American NES release.

Controls

Control Pad: move the helicopter. A: fire the main shot. B: deploy a bomb. START: pause. Colored circular pickups select the weapon; S strengthens your firepower and B pickups add bombs. This Japanese release uses A to shoot and B to bomb.

Twin Cobra — About this game

The Famicom version of Kyukyoku Tiger turns helicopter combat into a careful balance between firepower and survival. Enemy craft approach while tanks and other ground targets add fire from below. Colored weapon pickups change your attack pattern, and S items strengthen it, so collecting the right equipment matters as much as shooting. Bombs give you a way out when the screen becomes dangerous, but their supply is limited. A lost helicopter also loses its weapon power, making recovery harder late in the campaign. Search destructible scenery for stars and bring them safely to the end of a stage for extra points. This version runs through ten stages to an ending rather than endlessly looping like the arcade original.
