How to Play Totally Rad
Quick start
In the opening amusement-park section, move right, jump with A and attack with B. Hold B for a stronger shot, but remember that jumping releases it. Press Start to open the magic menu, move the cursor and confirm a spell with A; closing with B or Start alone keeps your previous choice. Hold Up and press B to cast. Check the L life and M magic gauges before deciding between an attack and healing.
Controls
Left/Right: move. Down: crouch. A: jump; hold longer for more height. B: attack; hold and release to charge the human psychic shot. Up+B: cast selected magic. Start: open the magic menu. Menu D-pad: choose; A confirms, B or Start closes without selecting a new spell.
Totally Rad — About this game
Magic John is the Japanese original behind Totally Rad, with young John and Yuu rather than the overseas release's redesigned teenagers. Its action revolves around a psychic shot and a menu of twelve magical abilities. Charging the shot helps against tough enemies, but jumping releases the stored attack, so aerial fights demand a different rhythm. Healing and temporary protection share a limited magic supply with elemental attacks and transformations. The lion has a stronger jump and is safe while airborne, the bird can fly, and the fish handles water. Choosing a useful form can solve a difficult stretch, but you must return to human form to use other kinds of magic.
