How to Play Conquest of the Crystal Palace
Quick start
Press START at the title; another press skips the introduction. Use Left/Right to choose a crystal, then A to confirm. In the opening mountain area, get comfortable with A to jump and B to attack before chasing coins near hazards. Hold Down and tap A until the white inventory cursor reaches the item or Zap icon you want, then release Down to activate it. Visit Kim when you find her, and check both Farron's and Zap's health before buying supplies.
Controls
D-pad Left/Right: move; Down: crouch. A: jump and confirm the opening crystal. B: attack with the selected weapon. Hold Down and tap A to move the white cursor through the inventory; release Down to activate the selected item or call/recall Zap. START: start, skip the opening story, and pause/resume during play. Zap uses a separate health meter; he is not an unlimited invulnerable attack.
Conquest of the Crystal Palace — About this game
Conquest of the Crystal Palace pairs a young swordsman with a dog who is more than decoration. Farron can call Zap into the action, but the companion has his own health supply and needs care between battles. Before the first stage, one crystal changes your starting abilities, letting you favor health, jumping, or a projectile attack. From there, the challenge combines enemy encounters with platforms and dangerous gaps across five stages. Shops turn the coins you collect into practical decisions: restore Farron, feed Zap, or invest in another useful item. Kim can also present hints as news reports. This is the American NES localization, with Farron, Zap, Kim, and Zaras rather than the Japanese edition's names. It rewards learning the inventory selection method and keeping a healing budget, not simply swinging the sword through every screen.
