How to Play Isolated Warrior
Quick start
Select NEW GAME on the Japanese title screen and press A. Use the Control Pad to position Max and B to shoot, then practise A-button jumps before attempting crowded gaps. Hold A for a somersault; release and press A again while still airborne to use a bomb. SELECT changes between W and L, whose upgrades are collected separately. Avoid pursuing a power-up if it leaves no safe landing place. After clearing a stage, write down its password. On the title screen, select PASSWORD with the Control Pad or SELECT, choose digits with Up/Down and positions with Left/Right, then press A.
Controls
Control Pad: move in eight directions. B: shoot. A: jump; hold to somersault; press again while airborne to fire a bomb. SELECT in play: toggle spreading W and focused L beams. START in play: pause. A confirms NEW GAME or a completed password. For Japanese password entry, Up/Down changes a digit and Left/Right changes its position. On the motorcycle, Down+A performs a wheelie; it protects against enemy collisions, not enemy bullets. The wheelie input is taken from this Japanese release's manual.
Isolated Warrior — About this game
Max Warrior: Wakusei Kaigenrei is the Japanese release of the game known overseas as Isolated Warrior. Its angled view turns navigation into part of the shooting challenge: Max must find a clear line of fire while keeping enough room to jump and land. The campaign moves between running, motorcycle, and hovercraft sections. You develop two separate beam modes, choosing the spreading W pattern for coverage or the focused L beam for tougher targets. Bombs are launched from jumps, with somersaulting adding another option to their use. Equipment pickups help, but dangerous terrain can still end a life regardless of the remaining health. Stage-clear passwords support later attempts, while finishing the first six stages without a game over leads to a special seventh stage.
