How to Play Metal Mech: Man & Machine

Quick start

Press START on the title screen; if the demonstration is running, START first returns to the title. The city is your first area. Move right, fire at objects that may hide supplies, and search for the Level Key before pushing to the far-right destination. For exploring outside the walker, use SELECT+A or open the cockpit with START, choose EJECT with Up/Down, and press A. Tony can investigate small routes that the machine cannot use. Return beside the walker and use SELECT+B, the boarding combination printed in the US manual. Use START to check the cockpit inventory without committing to an action.

Controls

Walker: Left/Right move, Down crouches, A stomps, and holding B fires while the D-pad aims. SELECT cycles collected weapons; SELECT+B triggers a smart bomb; SELECT+A ejects Tony. START pauses and opens the cockpit. In that menu, Up/Down selects and A confirms; START returns without choosing. Tony: D-pad moves or climbs, A jumps, B shoots, START pauses, and SELECT+B returns him to the nearby walker. The US manual explicitly prints SELECT+B for boarding; some later walkthroughs instead say SELECT alone.

Metal Mech: Man & Machine — About this game

Metal Mech: Man & Machine gives you a hulking three-legged vehicle, but surviving the alien invasion takes more than armor. Tony Martin must also climb out to investigate routes the walker cannot enter. Shooting objects reveals collectible icons, and the search for level keys turns the streets and towers into exploration spaces rather than simple shooting lanes. The US manual introduces six locations, from a city to the Alien Queen's mothership, with different hazards and equipment along the way. Keep an eye on both Tony and the machine: the life display follows whichever one you currently control. New weapons, smart bombs, and recovery items can help, but knowing where to look is just as important as clearing enemies. When the action becomes confusing, the cockpit screen lets you pause and review your equipment.
