How to Play Nintendo World Cup

Quick start

Choose Tournament Mode 1P and confirm with START. Confirm the password screen without entering a code to begin from the first opponent. Arrange your players, set tactics and select EXIT. Move your marked player with the D-pad. A passes or requests a pass; B shoots or tells a teammate to shoot. Keep teammates involved instead of chasing every ball yourself.

Controls

D-pad: move, dribble and navigate menus. A: pass on offense or tackle on defense. B: shoot on offense or slide tackle on defense. When a teammate is nearer the action, A/B issue the corresponding command. For an incoming ball: A heads, B volleys, A+B performs an overhead kick, and D-pad+A+B performs a diving header. A/B/START confirm menus; player one's START pauses/resumes.

Nintendo World Cup — About this game

Nekketsu High School Dodgeball Club: Soccer Story begins with a crisis: food poisoning has sidelined the soccer team before an important competition. Misako turns to Kunio and his dodgeball friends to take their place. The matches are deliberately unruly, allowing forceful challenges without fouls. Rather than constantly switching athletes, you move a chosen player and issue passing, shooting and defensive requests to the computer-controlled teammates. Pre-match tactics determine how they behave between commands, including whether the goalkeeper joins attacks. The Japanese game follows Nekketsu through twelve opposing schools, with recovering soccer players rejoining the squad as it advances. Its school story and two-player limit distinguish it from the internationally themed Nintendo World Cup.
