Double Dragon (Virtual Console) — About this game
This is the Virtual Console reissue’s NES game member. The directions below start at the game’s own title screen and use its original buttons. Host menus and restore points are separate features.
Billy’s rescue mission begins with basic punches, kicks and a headbutt. Landing attacks builds experience; the heart indicators mark technique levels, adding moves up to level seven. Jump kicks and grapples must be learned rather than assumed available from the start. Weapons and objects can help with a group of enemies, but do not form a permanent equipment set.
Four main areas lead from the streets through industry and woodland to the hideout, with redesigned terrain and dangerous gaps. Mode A’s two-player option alternates turns after a lost life; it does not put two heroes in the same fight. Mode B instead offers one-on-one combat against the computer or another person, using selected fighters. In the first street, practice the distance for punches and kicks, and learn the simultaneous-button jump before attempting techniques your current level has not unlocked.
