Controls

Double Dragon (Beta) — About this game
This is the early Japanese prototype released by Skrybe, with free play and unfinished demonstration behaviour. Do not wait for the title demonstration to teach the game: its fighter stands still. The rescue route contains looping cave exits; in stages three and four take the left of the paired doors to advance. Stage three’s last doorway can still be entered even though it does not visibly open.
Billy still learns techniques through experience, but their thresholds differ. The preserver specifically reports the jump kick at two hearts, earlier than in the released game. Shoulder throws are absent, and some fights put more than two enemies on screen. Extra rocks and rough collision can change a familiar encounter. The campaign ends after Willy rather than adding a Jimmy duel. During a fight START skips the stage, so avoid the retail habit of pressing it to pause.
