How to Play Nobunaga's Ambition
Quick start
After the opening, press any button. Answer Y for a new game, choose the 17-fief scenario and one player, then pick a fief and follow the daimyo ability prompts. Start at skill level 1. On your turn, check rice, money, dams and loyalty before raising troops or declaring war. Use Up/Down and A to choose a command; Left shows commands 1–12 and Right shows 13–21. Dam can protect your economy, while Train prepares the army. Examine your position on the map before committing to an invasion.
Controls
Control Pad: select entries and enter amounts. A confirms; B cancels ordinary command selections. For numbers, Up/Down changes the digit and Right advances to another digit; press A only after the full amount is correct. Left/Right changes between command-list pages. From the main display, B opens the map; Up or Right moves north, Down or Left moves south, and A returns to the main display. Answer Y/N prompts with the direction pointing toward your chosen answer. Use the controller number shown on screen when applicable.
Nobunaga's Ambition — About this game
Nobunaga's Ambition asks you to keep a realm functioning before trying to conquer its neighbors. Each season brings a chance to issue an order in each directly controlled fief, so raising troops competes with improving farms, building dams, supporting the population and dealing with rival lords. New recruits increase your numbers but dilute training, morale and equipment, making a balanced force more useful than a large unprepared one. Money and rice must support the army through peace and war, while typhoons, sickness and unrest can disrupt your plans. Invasions switch the game to a hex-based battlefield. The two campaigns begin in spring 1560 and differ in geographic scope, offering either central Japan or the whole country's 50 fiefs.
