How to Play Chubby Cherub
Quick start
Choose the one-player game with SELECT and begin with START. Use Left/Right to walk and B to jump. After collecting food, hold B to start flying if enough power remains; use the Control Pad to steer and press B again to land. Candy supplies the GAU-GAU attack on A. If a section stops scrolling, search for the object needed for the errand. Watch your power before flying over a long stretch, and avoid landing beside a dog.
Controls
Left/Right walks; in flight, the Control Pad moves Q-Tarou in eight directions. B jumps, holding B begins flight with sufficient power, and B during flight drops him down. Down+B descends through a roof or wall. A uses GAU-GAU after special candy, or throws a collected bone in the burglar encounter. SELECT chooses the player setting; START begins, pauses and resumes.
Chubby Cherub — About this game
The Japanese Famicom Wanwan Panic makes Q-Tarou's helpful nature the basis of a hazardous day. Walking, jumping and flying carry him through scrolling streets and other locations, but his power supply falls as he travels and faster flight consumes it more quickly. Food therefore determines which routes remain practical. Special candy lets him shout limited GAU-GAU attacks to frighten dogs, rather than providing an unlimited weapon against every obstacle. Certain scenes require a particular object before scrolling resumes, and endings involve finding a friend behind windows or dealing with a burglar. Q-Tarou and the familiar Japanese cast distinguish this version from Chubby Cherub's angel-themed localization. Plan around the clock, food and enemy positions rather than flying continuously.
