Press START on the title and select the item corresponding to "New Game" for the first time. After inputting the player's name, gender, and whether or not they have a girlfriend, they choose one of eight dog breeds and name the puppy as well. At home, press A to open the command panel and start by talking and answering questions. Next, play one mini-game to earn "precious jewels" and exchange them for furniture, toys, and outing tickets at the shop. The flowers next to the doghouse will grow as you deepen your friendship through the items you leave in the dog's room, play, outings, and conversations. Before exiting, be sure to select Save in the command panel.

In the menu, use the cross keys to select, A to confirm, and B to cancel. At home, use the cross keys to move between rooms/select the command panel, press A to open the panel/send a message/confirm, and press B to go back one step/close the panel. START pauses the mini-game and you can choose Quit. For block games, use the cross key to select adjacent blocks and press A to replace them. For slide puzzles, use the cross key to move toward an empty square. For treasure hunting, use the cross key to select the × mark and dig with A. (Use B to move the cursor at high speed.)
