How to Play Pokémon Ruby Version
Quick start
Choose NEW GAME, select a gender and name, then leave the moving truck and enter the new house in Littleroot Town. Set the clock, speak with your parent and visit the neighbour before heading north. On Route 101, take a Pokémon from Professor Birch’s bag and defeat the wild attacker; return to his lab to keep that starter, then meet the rival on Route 103 and come back for the Pokédex.
Controls
D-pad moves and selects. A confirms, talks, checks ahead and advances text. B cancels; after receiving Running Shoes, hold B while moving to run. START opens the field menu. SELECT uses a registered item and reorders items or battle moves. L/R are normally unused, but Button Mode can assign them to Left/Right menu switching or make L act as A. Battle commands use D-pad, A and B.
