How to Play Popeye: Rush for Spinach
Quick start
Choose Adventure, select Popeye, Olive Oyl, Wimpy or Bluto, and start the first race. The goal is not to defeat every rival: keep moving to the right and cross the finish line first among the four racers. Jump over spikes, lava and other hazards, take useful vehicles such as pogo sticks, cars or jetpacks, and collect spinach for a speed burst. Offensive items can delay the nearest rival, while switches and alternate routes can create shortcuts. Adventure links eight main races; use Quick Rush or Time Rush later to practise individual courses.
Controls
Control Pad: move through menus and steer the racer through the side-scrolling course. A confirms menu choices and B goes back in menus. START begins from the title screen. The GBA game also has context-sensitive jump, item/shove and vehicle actions, but the surviving public GBA reviews and videos do not reliably identify which native button performs each one; follow the on-screen prompt shown for the selected character, vehicle or item. No keyboard binding or controls from another Popeye game have been substituted.
