How to Play SimCity 2000
Quick start
Press A on START, choose NEW CITY, select a terrain map with Up/Down and A, then enter the city and mayor names. Leave the opening settings at $20,000 and 1900 for the gentlest first attempt. Start with residential, commercial and industrial zones, a power plant, connected power lines and roads joining the zones. Press L for the construction menu and place these essentials before adding services; simulation speed can be set to Pause while you plan.
Controls
Use the D-pad to move through menus and A to confirm; B closes help or cancels. In the construction menu, Up/Down selects a tool, Left/Right selects its submenu, A takes the tool into edit mode, L opens construction and R opens terrain view. In edit mode, move with the D-pad and hold A while moving to lay zones, roads or power lines. SELECT opens city/map view, START opens the pause menu, and SELECT or B leaves city view.
