How to Play SimCity 2000
Quick start
Press A on START, choose NEW CITY, select a terrain map with Up/Down and A, then name the city and mayor. Retain the default $20,000 and 1900 settings for an approachable first city. Build residential, commercial, and industrial zones, add a power plant and power lines, and connect the zones with roads. Use L to reopen construction and complete that core network before adding services; simulation speed can be paused while you build.
Controls
Navigate menus with the D-pad and choose with A; B closes help or cancels. In construction, Up/Down changes tools and Left/Right changes subtools; A selects one, L opens construction, and R opens terrain view. In edit mode, use the D-pad to position the cursor and hold A while moving to draw zones, roads, or power lines. SELECT opens city/map view, START opens pause, and SELECT or B returns from city view.
