How to Play Slalom
Quick start
Press START or SELECT during the demonstration to return to the menu. Use SELECT to choose one or two players, and the D-pad to pick a mountain; Snowy Hill is the beginner option. Press START to begin. Steer around the correct side of each flag, use Up to tuck for speed and Down to brake when the route gets crowded. Save freestyle attempts for after you are comfortable avoiding obstacles.
Controls
Left/Right: steer. Up: tuck to ski faster. Down on the snow: snowplow to brake. A or B: jump. START: begin or pause/resume. During the demonstration, START or SELECT returns to the game menu.
Slalom — About this game
Slalom presents a downhill run from behind the skier, with trees, snowmen, sledders and other skiers crowding the route. Pick a mountain suited to your ability, then weave past flags on the proper side while trying to finish before time expires. Missed flags force you to slow down, and collisions interrupt your run. Moguls can launch you into freestyle tricks, but holding the trick too long risks a bad landing. Remaining time and freestyle performance build a solo bonus, giving you a period without other skiers at the start of later runs. The three mountains offer different difficulty levels and a total of twenty-four recorded runs.
