How to Play Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball

Quick start

Use the D-pad and A to choose START, 1 PLAYER and FAST PITCH or SLOW PITCH. Select a field, draft ten players, choose a team name and arrange the lineup. Confirm PLAY BALL! with A. Try Slow Pitch first to learn batting timing: A swings and releasing it partway through bunts. Solo wins reveal passwords on the scoreboard.

Controls

A swings; release during the swing to bunt. D-pad selects bases: B advances runners, A returns them. Steals require Fast Pitch and a released pitch. Fast pitching: Up+A/B slow, Down+A/B fast, A/B alone normal. Slow pitching: Up+A short flat pitch, Down+A long flat pitch. Fielders move with the D-pad; direction+A throws, direction+B dives, B alone jumps. Player 1's START calls time.

Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball — About this game

Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball lets you build a team instead of choosing an existing club. Draft ten players, set their batting order and positions, and use individual strengths to handle six distinctive fields. Water, rough ground and other obstacles make placement more than a matter of picking the strongest hitter. In solo play, five preliminary wins lead to the defending Amazons. Fast Pitch uses a nine-player fielding lineup with a reserve, while Slow Pitch puts all ten players on the field and forbids steals. The combination of roster selection, special abilities and local ground rules gives each team a different character.
