How to Play Sonic Advance 2
Quick start
Press START on the title and select Sonic from "GAME START" to start Leaf Forest Zone Act 1. The first goal is to reach the goal bar within 10 minutes. Collect rings to prepare for damage, and maintain maximum speed on hills and acceleration floors to enter boost state. Immediately after jumping out of a ramp, spring, or rail, use the Direction + R trick to compensate for height and distance, and when watching for the first time, prioritize safe goals over collecting SP rings.
Controls
Menu: Select with the cross button, confirm with A, cancel with B. Common: Move left and right, crouch down/curl up while running, spin dash when you save and release down + A, jump with A, unique attack with B, trick with direction + R when going into the air from a ramp/spring/rail, pause with START. Sonic can double spin by re-entering A in the air/homing attack if the enemy is close, and bounce with B in the air. Press A repeatedly in the air to make Cream fly, and press B to attack Cheese.
