How to Play Street Fighter Alpha 3
Quick start
Press START at the title screen. New players should first open Option Mode: lower Difficulty if needed, turn Easy Combos on and use Button Config if the four-button layout feels uncomfortable. Enter Training Mode to practise movement and the light/heavy button pairs, then return to Single Mode, choose a fighter and select an ISM. A-ISM is the most balanced first choice, X-ISM trades flexibility for one powerful Super Combo, and V-ISM centres on Custom Combos. Your immediate goal is to win two of three rounds; continue through each fighter's route towards the final boss. Hold away from the opponent to block, use light attacks to test range and learn one quarter-circle special before attempting longer combos. The GBA default layout places light attacks on the shoulders and heavy attacks on A/B, with medium attacks produced by pressing the matching light and heavy buttons together.
Controls
Menus: Control Pad changes selections, START enters from the title screen, and an attack button confirms the chosen fighter and ISM. In a fight, the Control Pad walks, crouches, jumps and blocks by holding away from the opponent. Default attacks: L is Light Punch, B is Heavy Punch, and L+B is Medium Punch; R is Light Kick, A is Heavy Kick, and R+A is Medium Kick. Quarter-circle and charge motions plus a Punch or Kick perform character-specific special moves. SELECT taunts and leaves the fighter briefly open; START pauses. Option Mode > Button Config can reassign the attack functions.
