At first, Z-ISM is an easy choice because it has a good balance between attack and defense and can use multi-level super combos. In a match, you basically win 2 out of 3 rounds, so first check your distance with normal moves, block by pushing in the opposite direction of your opponent, and stabilize one special move such as Hadouken-type "↓↘→+ attack". Win each battle and aim for the final boss through each character's route. In the GBA version, the shoulder button is a light attack, A/B is a strong attack, and pressing the corresponding light + strong simultaneously is a medium attack.

In the menu, select an item with the four-way controller, press START to start the title screen, and select the character and ISM with the attack button. During a battle, use the cross keys to move forward and backward, crouch, and jump, and press in the opposite direction to guard your opponent. The initial configuration is L = weak punch, B = strong punch, L + B = medium punch, R = weak kick, A = strong kick, R + A = medium kick. By combining command input with the cross pad and punch/kick, you can perform each character's special move. SELECT is a taunt and leaves you defenseless while using it. START is a pause. Attack placement can be changed in OPTION MODE BUTTON CONFIG.
