Press START on the title screen and select the main character boy/girl and name from "NEW GAME". Talk to your mother downstairs in the house, pick up the admission ticket from the chest on the right on the second floor, and the water scooter from the bottom right on the first floor, then head to the Central Tower for the opening ceremony of the Sword Master Selection Examination. After the ceremony, return to your home, meet Bronn at the Silver Crafts Hall, answer the summoner's questions, and make one of the four beasts your guardian beast. Once you get to the workshop, save, and the next day prepare your weapon at the blacksmith and proceed to the labyrinth and the first match. A weapon's DUR decreases when attacking or guarding, and if it reaches 0, it will break, so it is safe to have a spare instead of using the same weapon for all three slots.

Field/Menu: Move/select item with D-pad, A to decide/converse/activate save point/hammer after getting it, B to cancel, press and hold B while inputting direction to dash. Press START to access the equipment/item/status menu, and press SELECT to ask the escort beast about the next objective. Combat: Move left and right, jump by pressing up, dash by pressing left and right twice, and backstep by pressing down twice. Attack with A, press Down + A to attack the weapon, and hold down A for axes, drills, and spears to attack when released. B is the selected support/magic, and the initial state is guard. Press L to switch equipped weapons, R to switch support commands, R to select magic, and B to activate. Pause at START.
