Go downstairs, speak with your mother, collect the Entrance Ticket from the upstairs dresser and the Water Scooter from the lower-right corner, then head to the Central Tower for the tournament opening ceremony. Afterward, return home and visit Bron at the Silver Guild; answer the summoner's questions to receive one of four Guardian Beasts and reach your workshop. On the next day, use the workshop forge, save at the glowing sword or workshop save point, and prepare for the first Labyrinth trip and tournament match. Keep one weapon in reserve: weapon DUR falls as you attack or guard, and a weapon that reaches zero breaks.

Field and menus: the Control Pad moves or changes a selection, A confirms, talks, activates save points and swings the hammer once obtained, B cancels and runs while held with a direction, START opens the equipment/item/status menu, and SELECT speaks with the Guardian Beast for a destination hint. Battle: Left/Right moves, Up jumps, double-tap Left/Right dashes, and double-tap Down backsteps. A attacks; Down+A performs a low or weapon-specific attack, and holding A charges axes, drills and spears. B uses the selected support command or magic and defaults to guard. L cycles equipped weapons, R cycles support commands, and START pauses. To use magic, select it with R and press B.
