How to Play WCW: World Championship Wrestling

Quick start

Choose the one-player singles mode with the directional pad and START. For a new run, select the option not to enter a password and confirm with START. Use the pad and A to choose a wrestler and four favorite moves; B cancels a choice. Wear down your opponent with A/B strikes before grappling. Near a fallen opponent, press A to attempt a pin.

Controls

Pad: move/select. A/B: strikes. In a grapple, Up+B slams, Down+B headbutts, Left/Right+B throws toward the ropes. Assigned direction+A uses a favorite move against a weakened opponent. A+B activates a specialty when eligible; Left/Right+A+B runs. Near a downed opponent, A pins; B at their feet lifts them. Repeated A or B helps escape holds or get up. START confirms modes or opens the match sub-screen; SELECT is unused.

WCW: World Championship Wrestling — About this game

Super Star Pro Wrestling combines ring action with a pre-match choice of moves. Pick from twelve wrestlers, then assign four of their eight favorite techniques to directional inputs. Strikes soften up an opponent before you approach from the front to grapple, while a power meter adds timing to the damage dealt. Singles competition leads through tournaments toward A. Aiant, and tag matches let you build a two-wrestler team. A second player can also join for a competitive match. Pins, submission holds and out-of-ring counts provide different ways to settle a bout. This Japanese edition has its own roster and championship presentation rather than the American WCW branding.
