Play Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis (US edition · English) Online

Press START at the title screen and choose New Game. Enter Alphonse's name and birthday, then answer the opening questions; the answers affect his starting characteristics, allies, and supplies. Mission 1 on the Lutra Islands is a tutorial with one controllable unit, Alphonse, and a Kill Leader objective. Select Alphonse with A, choose a highlighted destination, then choose an attack or Wait; the other Lodis soldiers act as guests. Check hit chance and damage before confirming, and attack the bandit leader when practical for more experience. After the battle, open the world-map menu with R, save through the System menu, then travel to Port Scabellum.

The Control Pad moves the cursor on maps and menus. A confirms, advances dialogue, selects a unit, destination, and command. B cancels or backs out. R opens the command menu on the world map and the battle menu in combat; use the latter to review the objective or end the phase. L is a context shortcut: in battle it works with A/B to cycle characters, and on the equipment screen it removes an item. START creates an in-battle save and toggles attribute displays on the equipment screen. SELECT displays context help or information. On the world map, R opens Edit, Training, Shop, and System options.
