On first boot, choose a language and press A, then press START at the title screen. For a quick match, select Play Now > Exhibition > One Player; choose the number of games and sets, Deuce, Tiebreak, court position and difficulty, then pick a venue, your player and an opponent. The immediate objective is to win that singles match. Begin each swing early: hold A for a safe shot or B for a slice, aim with the D-Pad after the backswing begins, and release in time to meet the ball. Use R+B to lob an opponent at the net and L+B for a drop shot when they remain deep. For the full progression, choose Career, create and name a player, then use the world map to enter tournaments or Level 1 mini-games; you start at world rank 100 and training awards stars for attributes. The game saves the career automatically after the name is confirmed. To continue, choose Career, highlight the saved file and press A.

Menus: highlight with the D-Pad, confirm with A and go back with B; press START during a match for the pause menu. On court, the D-Pad moves the player and aims once the backswing has begun. Hold A for a more powerful safe shot and B for a more powerful slice shot. R+A produces topspin, R+B a lob, L+A a risk shot and L+B a drop shot. When serving, A is the safe serve, B the slice serve and R the risk serve. SELECT displays the score panel. On the Career world map, move with the D-Pad and use L or R to switch between tournaments and mini-games.
