How to Play Tweety & the Magic Gems
Quick start
From the title menu choose SINGLE PLAYER, then START NEW GAME. Set the number of computer players, choose any of the six Looney Tunes characters, and select Tweety's Turn-To-Stone Speed; use the slower setting for a first game. You begin at a random spot on the world board. Your first objective is to reach the cities marked for gem power and collect all five gems before Tweety becomes completely stone. Check the lower-right world map and the compass arrow for the nearest gem city, open the Cards icon, press A once to shuffle and again to draw, then use the D-pad to follow the shortest dotted route; press A when you reach a city. Red spaces start mini-games that award Character Points, so practice them from SINGLE PLAYER > MINI GAMES and spend points on useful movement or protection items rather than wandering away from the next gem.
Controls
D-pad: move a character and move menu or map cursors. A: enter/confirm a command, enter a city, and—inside the Cards menu—shuffle and draw the movement card; it is also the main action in most mini-games. B: cancel a menu command and perform the documented second action in certain mini-games, such as launching the water rocket, raising the red flag, or fetching a log. L or R: enlarge or shrink the world map. START: pause or resume the game. SELECT is unused. Each mini-game begins with its own rule card: some use repeated A presses, others use the D-pad plus A, and a few use both A and B. LINK CABLE PLAY supports two to four players through the Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable and requires a Game Pak for each participant; MINI GAMES is the practice mode and JUKEBOX plays the soundtrack.
