How to Play Knights of the Round (USA 911127)

Quick start

Start and select Arthur, Lancelot, or Perceval.
Practice ordinary attacks against the opening soldiers and learn your weapon’s reach.
Press Attack, then quickly hold back to prepare a guard before an enemy hits.
Counter after a successful guard, collect treasure and food, and continue toward the stage boss.

Controls

Joystick: move. Button 1: Attack. Button 2: Jump.
Press Attack, then forward: heavy attack. Press Attack, then back: guard.
Attack+Jump: a desperation attack that consumes health.
Press Jump beside a horse to mount; while mounted, Jump turns the horse.

Knights of the Round (USA 911127) — About this game

Arthur, Lancelot, and Perceval begin a quest for the grail with different weapons and fighting styles. Their journey unfolds as a side-scrolling brawler, but earning points also develops the chosen knight, changing equipment and increasing combat strength as levels rise. Careful defense gives the swordplay its particular rhythm. A well-timed guard can stop an incoming blow and create a short opportunity to counter, while holding a defensive stance without receiving an attack leaves the knight vulnerable when it ends. Heavy swings offer power at the cost of commitment, so their timing matters against shielded soldiers and bosses. Treasure and food found along the route contribute to progress and survival, and horses temporarily change the available attacks. Success comes from reading an enemy's approach, defending at the right moment, and taking an opening without becoming surrounded.
