How to Play Die Hard
Quick start
Move with the D-pad and use A for the current attack. Conserve ammunition by punching isolated enemies or using the axe. SELECT cycles running, flash grenades, C4 and other available functions; B performs the selected function. Follow radio updates, search rooms for keys and avoid needless running when foot health is low. Prioritize the fourth-floor computer and the elevator controls on floor 33 to open the endgame route.
Controls
D-pad moves in eight directions and sprays the submachine gun in the movement direction. A uses the current pistol, submachine gun, axe or punch. SELECT chooses among running, flash grenades, C4 and other available functions; B performs the selected function. START begins or pauses play, and the pause screen displays current status.
Die Hard — About this game
The European NES release of Die Hard turns the film's siege into a free-roaming overhead action game. McClane moves among floors 31 through 35 while locks, radio reports, enemy positions and the countdown evolve in real time. Weapons, keys, flash grenades, C4 and detonators create several routes through the building, while separate body and foot condition affects survival. Progress requires more than defeating guards: destroy the fourth-floor computer tied to the rooftop explosives and activate the express elevator from the 33rd-floor control computer before confronting Hans's operation.
