How to Play Die Hard
Quick start
Move with the D-pad and attack with A, using punches or the axe to conserve bullets. SELECT cycles running, flash grenades, C4 and other available functions; press B to activate the current choice. Read radio updates and search for keys instead of lingering in every fight. Watch both general and foot condition, then complete the floor-4 computer and floor-33 elevator objectives before closing in on Hans.
Controls
D-pad moves McClane in eight directions; when the submachine gun is active, it also directs the spray. A uses the current pistol, submachine gun, axe or punch. SELECT chooses running, a flash grenade, C4 or another available function, and B activates it. START begins or pauses play; pausing displays status information.
Die Hard — About this game
The Japanese Famicom edition of Die Hard adapts the Nakatomi Plaza siege as a real-time overhead action game. Floors 31 through 35 remain interconnected as radio messages arrive, doors lock, enemies reposition and the countdown advances. McClane can locate firearms, an axe, flash grenades, C4, detonators and keys, while damage to his feet makes careless running dangerous. Winning is not merely a matter of clearing guards: the computer linked to the rooftop explosives on floor 4 must be destroyed, and the control computer on floor 33 enables the express elevator needed for the final pursuit.
