How to Play Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf

Quick start

Choose Practice, Super Mex, and a hole with a wide fairway. Aim with the D-pad and tap B until the intended club appears. Press A once to start the swing, again to set power, and a third time near the centre arrow to keep the ball straight. Do not automatically choose the longest club: leave a comfortable approach, avoid hazards, and reduce the meter on chips and putts.

Controls

D-pad aims and changes shot options; Up/Down selects shot height where offered. B changes clubs or the active option. A performs the three-stage swing: begin, set strength, then set impact. Finishing left or right of the centre produces opposite lateral curve. START pauses/starts and SELECT changes menu selections. The putting screen uses the same meter, with distance governed by the power timing.

Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf — About this game

Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf is the North American NES version of SNK's golf simulation, adding Trevino as the playable Super Mex in place of the Japanese build's Birdie Tommy. It offers Stroke Play for one to four participants, a Nassau game for segmented competition, and a wind-free Practice mode. Select a golfer for distance or control, read the course and wind, then execute each drive, approach, bunker shot, and putt through a three-press meter that determines power and hook or slice.
