How to Play Tecmo World Wrestling

Quick start

Choose the one-player mode with Select and confirm with Start. Cycle through the wrestler profiles with A or B, move the selection star with Left/Right, and press Start. Take the training option and tap A rapidly after the whistle to fill the PUSH gauge before the first match. In the ring, use basic A kicks and B punches until you can engage a clinch, then add a direction to A or B for throws and holds. Save risky rope attacks for a downed opponent, and press B beside a fallen, weakened rival to attempt the three-count. Return from ringside before the referee reaches 20.

Controls

D-pad moves in eight directions; tap Left or Right twice to run. A performs a kick at range, knee lift in a clinch, running drop kick, opponent lift, or diving body attack from a corner. B performs a punch, clinch headlock, running clothesline, flying knee drop, or pin beside a downed opponent. Clinch inputs include Up+A brain buster, Down+A pile driver, Left/Right+A back drop, and Up+B body slam. Repeatedly press A or B to break a pin. Select chooses the mode; Start confirms and pauses.

Tecmo World Wrestling — About this game

Gekitou Pro Wrestling!! Toukon Densetsu is the original Japanese version of the game later released abroad as Tecmo World Wrestling. Its solo mode lets the player choose one of ten fictional wrestlers, build power through short rapid-tapping exercises, and advance through a sequence of seven-minute matches. The action supports strikes, clinch techniques, running attacks, corner dives, ringside moves, pins, and character-specific signature holds. A commentator reports the match in the lower panel, while a successful major technique against a weakened opponent can trigger a dramatic enlarged view. Two players can also select wrestlers for a direct bout. The Japanese release uses localized wrestler identities and presentation, but retains the same situational control system.
