How to Play World Champ

Quick start

Choose Ranking, use Training before challenging stronger ranked opponents, and keep all four core attributes viable. At the pre-round Punch screen, put extra points into the blow you can land consistently instead of scattering every point without a plan. During a bout, establish a straight-on position for predictable straight, body, and uppercut inputs. Press B as the opponent commits, then answer the miss with one clean A attack; repeated A presses without a direction can produce an unintended punch. Record the password shown after a division championship so you can resume your career.

Controls

D-pad: move the boxer. When facing straight on, Left/Right + A throws a straight, Down + A a body blow, and Up + A an uppercut. From an angled position, Left/Right + A throws a hook and Up/Down + A a straight. A: offensive move. B: defensive move; the situation determines whether the boxer sways or blocks. SELECT: choose the game type at startup; in Ranking mode, switch between Training and Ranking. START: begin the selected bout; pause or resume during play. On the pre-round Punch screen, Up/Down selects a punch, Right adds power, Left subtracts it, and START confirms.

World Champ — About this game

World Champ is a NES boxing game built around positioning as much as timing. Its single-player Ranking mode alternates training with official matches while you improve Speed, Stamina, Defense, and Punch attributes and pursue championships across four weight divisions. Before each round, punch ability can be distributed among straight punches, uppercuts, body blows, and hooks. The punch produced by a direction plus A changes depending on whether your boxer faces the opponent head-on or from an angle, making footwork part of every exchange. Matches can end by a ten-count knockout or by the judges, and the cartridge also includes simultaneous two-player Versus play and an alternating tournament bracket for up to eight participants.
