How to Play World Champ
Quick start
Select Ranking for a solo career, enter your fighter's name, and start in the welterweight class. On the bout-selection screen, use Select to alternate between Training and a Ranking match; build a weak attribute in sparring before challenging stronger opponents. At punch allocation, choose a punch with Up/Down, adjust its value with Left/Right, and press Start. In the ring, use the D-pad to maintain the correct distance and combine a direction with A to choose a straight, body blow, uppercut, or hook. Press B as an attack arrives to block or sway rather than simply exchanging blows. Copy the displayed password together with the exact fighter name so that the career can be continued later.
Controls
D-pad: boxer movement. Facing squarely, Left/Right+A gives a straight, Down+A a body blow, and Up+A an uppercut; at an angle, Left/Right+A gives a hook and Up/Down+A a straight. A: attack. B: defend with a block or sway according to position and direction. Start: start the contest or pause it. Select: change between Training and Ranking match at the Ranking choice. Allocation screen: Up/Down selects a punch, Right adds power, Left removes it, and Start accepts.
World Champ — About this game
World Champ is a ring-based NES boxing game whose Ranking campaign takes a created fighter from welterweight through middleweight and cruiserweight to the heavyweight crown. Sparring and ranked contests raise Speed, Stamina, Defence, and Punch, and before each bout the available punch rating can be divided between straight shots, body blows, uppercuts, and hooks. Footwork matters because the result of a direction plus A changes when the fighters face squarely or at an angle; B supplies the defensive blocks and sways. Bouts can be settled by knockout, technical knockout, or the judges' decision. Alongside the solo climb, two people can box simultaneously, while up to eight participants can take turns through a bracket tournament. This US cartridge uses English text and restores career progress with a name and password.
