How to Play Iron Tank

Quick start

Practice holding B with the D-pad to rotate the turret without steering the hull; being able to strafe past a tank while the cannon remains aimed at it is the game's central skill. Use the B-button machine gun on troops and save A-button cannon fire for armor, walls, and bosses. Open the sub-screen with SELECT whenever you collect V, B, F, or L ammunition, but activate upgrades only when their rapid, explosive, piercing, or long-range effect is useful. Read flashing radio calls before returning to battle because a message cannot be replayed, and watch the energy gauge closely.

Controls

D-pad: drive the tank in eight directions. Hold B while pressing a direction to rotate the turret independently in eight directions. A: fire the main cannon in the turret's current direction. B: fire the machine gun; hold it with the D-pad to aim the turret. SELECT: open or close the sub-screen. On that screen, use the D-pad to move the cursor among the map, radio, fuel, and shell items, then press A to select or toggle an item. START: start the game; pause or resume during play.

Iron Tank — About this game

Iron Tank is a top-down NES action shooter that puts Paul, code-named Iron Snake, behind enemy lines during the Normandy invasion. The tank and its turret are controlled independently, so you can keep the cannon trained on a target while driving in another direction. A machine gun handles infantry, the main gun breaks armored threats, and the sub-screen lets you activate rapid-fire, explosive, armor-piercing, and long-range shell upgrades in useful combinations. The campaign flows continuously through towns, railways, fortifications, and large bosses, with route forks leading through different hazards. Radio calls and rescued prisoners provide information, while fuel, reserve fuel, and the map reward deliberate planning instead of constant forward movement.
