How to Play Knight Rider
Quick start
Choose Mission mode to begin, then use Up to accelerate once you reach the driving view. Steer around traffic with Left and Right and brake with Down before sharp turns. Use A against hostile vehicles, but leave blue civilian cars alone. Watch for supplies from yellow vehicles and the black truck. Keep checking your fuel and remaining time rather than jumping continuously toward the boss.
Controls
Steer with Left and Right, accelerate with Up, and brake with Down. A fires; Select changes weapons; Start pauses. B performs the fuel-consuming Turbo Jump. The Japanese Famicom play guide specifies that the car must be traveling above 300 km/h for that jump. A is the weapon button, not the accelerator.
Knight Rider — About this game
The Japanese Famicom release of Knight Rider mixes racing with shooting from the driver's seat. Making progress requires more than keeping the accelerator down: civilian traffic must be avoided, enemy vehicles threaten the car, and supplies help keep the pursuit going. The Japanese release should not be treated as an identical course guide to the international game, whose later route and upgrade limits were revised. This introduction focuses on the verified driving and combat rules instead: preserve fuel, avoid costly crashes, switch weapons when needed, and reach the boss before your resources are exhausted.
