First select ``Training'' from the title menu, remember the difference between Ann and Greg, and then start the main story by selecting ``From the beginning'' → ``Beginner''. In the first stage, follow the side-scrolling path and aim for the exit while defeating enemies. Ann is safe with long range attacks with her hat and slow fall, and can be swapped by pressing up on the D-Pad next to Greg, who is waiting. It's a good idea to cross the high scaffolding with Greg's double jump, and use the collected magic crystals for special moves by pressing the R button in areas where there are many enemies.

Move with the left and right arrow keys. At the entrance, press the cross key to enter, and when your partner is waiting at the switching point, press up to switch characters. Press the A button to jump, and Greg can double jump by pressing A again while in the air. The B button is a normal weapon attack, and the R button is a special move that consumes the required number of magic crystals. Pause at START. Use the four-way controller to select the menu, press A to confirm, and press B to cancel or return.
